About The composer
Jacob Wilkins is a self-taught freelance multi-media composer and arranger, with music credits on independent projects including horror point-and-click Masochisia, animated action series ARMSMasters , and a handful of animated shorts by up and coming animator Dylan Carter including 3 bumps commissioned by Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. He also has created dozens of arrangements for many talented YouTube vocalists and voice actors/actresses including an arranger role in the cover label Terrific Tragedies as well as a cover artist/musician for the Video Game Music cover label Coin Op Records. In addition, Jacob is a versatile vocalist who can sing a wide variety of styles, and does so on his YouTube channel "The Goatee." He has been around music nearly all his life with from his first piano lesson at age 7 and he attended the University of Michigan-Flint, studying Piano Performance, Vocal Performance, and Music Education. He currently attends Berklee College of Music where he majors in Music Composition for Film, Television, and Video Games. He analyzes every artistic detail when it comes to media, especially the music. This has helped him to achieve a wealth of knowledge in different styles of music in visual media and what makes it work. With this knowledge and experience he became a freelance musician, honing his craft with the help of many talented and wise individuals and is hoping that your project is in need of his services. Whether if it's synth rock, orchestral, piano, jazz, metal, or any genre in between, Jacob has you covered!
It has been an extraordinary pleasure to have worked with Mr. Wilkins. In addition to his fantastic talent he is personable, patient and professional at all times. At the time when I first met him I had notnever navigated the world of the development of custom music for projects and Jacob did everything in his power to make the process as comfortable and as understandable as possible. He was flexible and more than willing to accommodate our needs even through what often times seemed like creative chaos as things would change or fluctuate requiring Jacob to have to make unforeseen adjustments on his end. His willingness to stay the course and his pursuit of excellence out of what was asked of him impressed myself and my partners and in turn served to motivate us to craft the best work we could craft. Any project you bring Jacob on will receive his whole heart and creative passion and I highly encourage you to utilize his talents as they are one of a kind.

"My favorite part of collaborating with Wilkins is his ability to take the vague ideas, emotions, and themes I give him and turn them into music that encapsulates the mood I'm trying to create.
When I’m working on an animation, a lot of times I won’t know exactly what a scene needs musically. I’m trained in animation, but I don’t know how to speak about things in terms of music. The best I can do is describe vague emotions and give loose ideas of what any given scene is about. Jacob is fantastic at interpreting those emotions and transposing them into a piece of music that does more than compliment the scene, it completes the scene."
-Dylan Carter, animator of "Your Art is Shit" and many other animated shorts
"I presented Jake with a challenging request for the Masochisia soundtrack: to create a sound that was at once both menacing and soothing. He absolutely rose to the challenge and the end result was nothing short of breath-taking. There has yet to be a review for the game that didn't include some mention of Jake's brilliant soundtrack. You are doing your game a disservice if you're not taking the opportunity to work with Jake on your next game."
- Jon Oldblood, creator of "Masochisia"
“Jacob did a tremendous job creating the music track for our animated short, HOME. He kept at a consistent high quality throughout the deadline-ridden production and worked very well with the direction and input from the group. Everyone on the team was very happy with the final result!”
-Hikarian and students from The Animation Workshop
"Jacob was able to totally capture the emotional moods I was looking for in my game. From the sweet and gentle ceremony of tucking a daughter to bed, to the loss of a loved one, to the dread of a looming enemy castle, Jacob was able to transpose the feelings I wanted the player to experience into memorable music."
